I would like to share a
publish research article that researched the positive effects of smaller class
sizes for students. The article is titled “Does Class Size Matter”? I worked in
an early childhood classroom, specifically with toddlers up into three years of
age. In my opinion and personal experience, class size does matter, because children
benefit greatly from smaller class sizes, as they can receive more personal one
on one time. Especially toddlers who are very egocentric, they most certainly
benefit, especially with social/emotional, cognitive, and autonomy development.
The article states “Importantly,
small classes have been found to have positive impacts not only on test scores
during the duration of the class size reduction experiment, but also on life
outcomes in the years after the experiment ended” (National
Education Policy Center, 2014) Go and check the article out if you’re
interested in class size and the positive outcomes it has for children.

hi Tanya I agree with that small class size is important for children. I work for Early Head Start and all classroom have eight children. I found that with the small class size I am able to reach child need. I also can work with children on their development goals that I set for them.
ReplyDeleteHello Tanya!
ReplyDeleteI 100% agree with you. Class size is so important to the success of our young learners. I wish it were possible for more teachers to have opportunities to teach with smaller ratios and for more children to have the opportunity to learn in an environment where all their needs can be met. It so difficult to do so with so many children. Perhaps more articles such as this can be utilized to support the need for smaller class sizes.

Thank you for your information on this, I am on my school board and we have been talking alot about this lately, we know it is best practice and create many more opportunities for children, but it's good to hear others who share these views and think they are worth to understand.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this article this week! This is a topic that is VERY near and dear to my heart as I feel that children need to have smaller class sizes and the way that budgets are cutting more and more, classes are getting bigger with fewer supports. I feel that both the students and teacher are suffering, but here is some prof to back it up. Thank you for sharing this week!
