Words of Inspiration and Motivation

This week I have learned about two great people in the field of early childhood education. Who have made vast improvements to the field, by conducting research, writing books, articles and being a part of the medical world to provide mental and health care to all children. With their dedication, motivation and passion we all have something to be proud of and that will inspire our best works! With that being said I have chosen these two quotes, the first by Janet Gonzales-Mena and the second by Dr. Terry Berry Brazelton

“[P]art of being who you are has to do with feeling your feelings, which means you'll have a wide range of emotions--not just constant sunshiny happiness.”
Janet Gonzalez-Mena, Child, Family, and Community: Family-Centered Early Care Education
I absolutely love this quote, because it reminds me that I’m only human and there are so many facets to my being and life will have challenges, it’s meant to be that way. But how I approach those challenges is what makes me strong.
This second quote is by Dr.Terry Berry Brazelton:
A grandchild is a miracle, but a renewed relationship
with your own children is even a greater one.
- T. Berry Brazelton
This quote is near and dear to my heart, because I am both a mother and grandmother. I Love my granddaughter, she is such a joy to have around the house, funny, smart, witty, lovable, sweet, and just great! She has so much personality for a child who will be turning two next month! She has given me the opportunity and pleasure to do by best work yet again! She has also, brought me and my daughter even closer, we can talk and relate to each other on a more common level, because we both are mothers now.
A quote that I really can relate to and appreciate from one of the presenters in week two video comes from:  Raymond Hernandez, MS ED “I’m not here to save the world, but to make a difference in the community that I’m serving”. Laureate Education, Inc. (2012)I really appreciate his honesty, because I feel if one child’s life can be changed and affected in a positive way, then I feel that I have made a difference, if only in one child’s life!

Personal Childhood Web

Personal Childhood Web

·         Mother: My mother is the person who has shown and given me unconditional love; she is a very nurturing person who was very responsive to my needs as a child. She supported me when I became a young mother, by letting me know it was not the end of the world.  A fond memory I have with my mother is when I was entering kindergarten, I asked my mother “how will I learn my way to school by myself”? She laughed, and said “no worries, you will find your way just fine, because you are a very smart girl”!
·         Father: My father was the person who showed tough love, he was hard on my sister and me, very strict, but he wanted the best for his daughters. He made sure we took school seriously and that we learned to be good judge of characters, he always stressed that “everyone who talks to you, doesn’t care about you”. A found memory I have of my father is him making my sister and I read inspirational passages from essence magazine.
·         Grandmother: My grandmother, God rests her soul. She was the sweetest person I ever knew, she always made sure all of her grandchildren felt loved and were taken care of. She gave us advice, she would take us on vacation with her, she made sure that family was important, she showered all of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild love!  I will miss the stories of her childhood that she shared with us, she was 93 years old when she passed, so surely you can imagine all the knowledge and family tree stories that she shared with us! It has not been a year since she departed this earth, but I will always love and miss my grandmother!
·         Grandfather: My grandfather was also very supportive; he was the foundation of our family. He was a very strong willed man, who also was very old school, meaning that he gave us “spankings or whooping” for a better lack of words. My memories of my grandfather who has been gone from this earth for nine years, is his strong political views, he would make us watch elections and debates, and he made sure we knew the importance of voting. He would have truly enjoyed seeing President Barack Obama!
·         Aunt: My aunt Rebecca is my favorite aunt, because she took care of me as a child, she’s ten years older than me, and it feels more like she’s my big sister. She has always told me how smart, kind and beautiful I am. She always offers great advice and is fun to hang out with! My fond memories of my aunt is her telling me and all of my cousins ghost stories, she always made them so real, she was a great story teller and still is today!

Hello my fellow colleagues! When of I think of famous children’s quotes it leads me to this:
     Today
is your Day!
your mountain is waiting.
So...
Get On Your Way!
Dr. Seuss, Oh, The Places You'll Go!

This quote makes me feel great about being an educator, because children need to feel as though everyday is their day and it's another day to grow, learn, play and reach developmental milestones. This quote is both inspirational and uplifting and a belief that should be instilled in children at an early age by both family and educators. Children are always looking for new and inventive ways to approach learning and every day is their day to shine!
I love this quote so much that it's only right that I have this book as one of my favorite children's book, because the book is written to showcase to children in vivid text as only Dr, Seuss can capture, that showcases many places that a child can go which gives the hope and encouragement in a delightful manner.
